Favourite Green Smoothie Bowl
This post is also available in: Deutsch (German)
If you’ve been following me for a while you probably know one thing about me: I love green smoothies! It has become my go to morning ritual, especially on the weekend I love to make myself a lovely bowl which I decorate with all the good toppings. During the week I mostly end up making a smoothie to go. I just directly fill it into my glass bottle and take it with me.
But why do I love green smoothies that much?
Green smoothies offer you pure nutrition. It’s the perfect way to add more greens into your diet already in the morning. Furthermore it helps your digestion a lot. Also, there are super easy and quick to make. In this blog post I want to show you my go to recipe. Stay tuned!
- 1 frozen banana (or 1/2 banana and some frozen mango/persimmon)
- 200 gr silken tofu
- 1/4 zuchini
- 5 slices cucumber (5 cm)
- handful of fresh baby spinach leaves (add more leavy greens if you like, f.e. betroot)
- juice of 1/2 lemon & some of the zest (make sure to use organic lemons!)
- 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla
- some water
- optional for extra nutrients: 1 teaspoon of wheatgrass powder
The trick is to use at least 1/3 of the ingredients frozen. That makes your smoothies super creamy. Especially if you want to decorate a bowl this is a great way to make it look nicer too.
Note: Always make sure to chew your smoothies. Sounds weird to you? Well, a smoothie is not just like water. It’s more than only hydration for your body. It’s important to insalivate the greens to digest them well afterwards.
And that’s how I like to eat my green bowls…
For the toppings I mostly add:
- raw buckwheat
- soy crispies
- homemade granola
- raw cacao nibs
- fresh fruits
- coconut flakes
- acai powder
